Notes:

We’re back, with a trance mix! You should play this at your local dance and see how much it screws up people’s stock dance moves, since it’s in 5/4. Go on, do it! Report back the hilarity!

Week 26: “Half a Song”

Notes:

I’m halfway done with this project! To celebrate, here’s half a song. (It’s not even really half a song; it barely constitutes a chorus, but whatever.)

Also, an announcement: I’m taking July off with this project. I feel like I’m burning out a little bit on this, plus with some extra time I can build up a backlog of songs that will have taken more than two hours to throw together. Don’t worry, I’ll still end up doing 52 weeks; it’s just that I’ll end up bleeding into January of 2015. Thanks y’all for listening, and I’ll see you back here in August!

Week 24: “Can’t You Believe”

Notes:

This is begging to be part of some sort of concept album where someone is being pushed along by their day-to-day existence, suddenly wakes up and questions it all, realizes the truth is grand yet terrible, so decides to just focus on their day-to-day existence so as to not go crazy. Maybe someday I’ll write lyrics to that effect.

Week 22: “Crushed Rainbow”

Notes:

This week I was busy readying a submission for the Salty Cricket Composers’ Collective “Belt Canto” show (I submitted a song from a Poison Ivy Mysteries show, but I had to clean it up and create a piano reduction to submit it) and thus didn’t have a ton of time to work on this week’s song. Therefore, this is something I had done a few months back when I was playing with 8-bit stuff, and in this particular piece I applied a bitcrusher to the non-synth sounds (guitar and drums), which made them sound like they were coming out of an old NES sampler or something. This piece is obviously based on another, slightly more famous tune (it’s more “inspired by” said tune than a direct remix of it), and if you don’t know what it is then both the name and the fact that Mario Kart 8 came out this past week may help. If not, then, well, just enjoy it anyway.
